GeMs is the Gemini Multi-Conjugate Adaptive Optics System. This facility instrument delivers a uniform, diffraction limited image quality at near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths over an extended FoV of more than 1 arcmin across. This corrected beam then feeds the new generation of science instruments: GSAOI or Flamingos 2.

The Instrument Scientist for GeMS is Gaetano Sivo. Gemini science staff who also support GeMS are Eduardo Marin and Gianluca Lombardi.

See the GeMS News pages for the latest news about GeMS. For more details about Gemini's AO program in general, you can also consult the adaptive optics pages.
