A bug in PIT 2013.2.1 prevents the calculation of guide star availability for the given target, instrument configuration, and weather conditions. This does not prevent proposal submission but it is confusing and undesirable. This problem has been fixed with the release of PIT 2013.2.2 on March 26, 2013. The new PIT can be downloaded from here. The guide star likelihoods will be calculated automatically once a program is loaded into the new PIT.
Gemini is now accepting proposals for observing time in Semester 2013B. The submission deadline varies with partner and ranges from THURSDAY MARCH 28 TO MONDAY APRIL 1 2013. A new version of the Phase I Tool (PIT) has been released to support proposal submissions.
The 2013B Phase I Tool (PIT) has been released. This version must be used to generate and submit any proposal for telescope time in the 2013B semester.
The 2013A PIT should continue to be used for 2013A Director's time and Poor Weather proposals.

The Gemini North telescope completed a successful maintenance shutdown that began on January 22. As of Saturday night (2/2/13), the telescope is back on the sky and executing semester 2013A science programs. During the shutdown many key systems underwent maintenance and/or upgrades with the most significant work focusing on the acquisition and guiding (A&G) system and the installation of sensors to help measure vibrations and further improve high-resolution adaptive optics imaging.
