This work has been completed on 3/18
We will be upgrading the Gemini Observatory Archive on March 18 (Wednesday morning in Hawaii). The website will be unavailable for up to a few hours during this process. This upgrade is mostly under the hood but there some improvements visible to the user:
Gemini is now accepting proposals for observing time in Semester 2020B. The submission deadline varies with participant. A new version of the Phase I Tool (PIT) has been released to support proposal submissions.
The Gemini North Adaptive Optics system, Altair, is currently offline due to problems with its deformable mirror electronics as well as few other mechanisms on the optical bench. We are working on resolving the issues as quickly as possible, but it is likely that Altair will be unavailable for at least another couple of weeks. Please email your contact scientist if you have any questions or concerns about the potential impact on your program.
Gemini Observatory announces an opportunity for New Large and Long Programs. Eligible PIs are invited to propose scientific investigations to begin observation in 2020B semester. Letters of Intent are required to be submitted no later than February 4, 2020 with complete proposals due April 1, 2020. Details on large programs, the proposal process, and specifics on the 2020 call for proposals are available on the Large and Long Program webpages.
Gemini 2020A observing programs and schedule have been announced. Notification emails were sent to successful PIs on December 13, 2019. Please check the schedules page for more information. Note that the latest version of the Observing Tool is required to access and update 2020A programs.
Gemini North is looking for poor weather programs that can take CC-Any IQ-Any conditions. If you have an idea for such a program please see the Poor Weather Proposal Process web page for details.
The 2020A Gemini Observing Tool is now available for download. This update is required to access the Gemini Observing Databases.
The Installation Instructions are linked on the Observing Tool web page, and we recommend that everyone download their programs from the databases rather than import from saved XMLs.
See the the Release Notes for a complete list of changes.
The Gemini observing databases will be offline for several hours on Tuesday, Dec 3 while we perform software updates.
During this time the following services will be unavailable:
The new 2020A Observing Tool will be available after the update and will be required to access the observing databases.
