An updated version of the Gemini IRAF package (v1.11.1) has been released. All users are encouraged to upgrade to v1.11.1 of the Gemini IRAF package. Please see the Gemini Data Processing Software page for more information.
The Gemini Multi-Conjugate Adaptive Optics System (GeMS) and Gemini South Adaptive Optics Imager (GSAOI) are presently being commissioned at Gemini South. At present, we expect that the completed end-to-end testing of System Verification (SV) for GeMS+GSAOI will be conducted in late 2012. However, given the unique scientific potential of GeMS and the current interest in this capability, Gemini is offering an opportunity for the community to be involved in defining targets for commissioning.
The 2012B Phase I Tool (PIT) has been released as part of the 2012B call for proposals. This is a completely new PIT with the following major changes:
Gemini is now accepting proposals for observing time in Semester 2012B. The submission deadline is THURSDAY/FRIDAY MARCH 29/30 2012 (the exact deadline varies with partner). The 2012B PIT is entirely new and improved and users are encouraged to get familiar with the new Tool well ahead of the proposal submission deadline.
Gemini Observatory is embarked on a new round of instrumentation development, with an emphasis on creating as competitive as possible an instrument suite within the technical limitations of the telescopes and fiscal constraint of projected budgets. The Gemini High-resolution Optical Spectrograph (GHOS; www.gemini.edu/node/11698) and Gemini Remote Access to CFHT ESPaDOnS Spectrograph (GRACES; www.gemini.edu/node/11355) are the first instruments under consideration in this new round.
The Gemini 2012A observing programs have now been announced. Successful PIs will have received email notification. Please check the schedules page for more information.
